Christmas 2010 and New Year 2011

Today, January 6, we are back home in Hervey Bay after spending almost three weeks in Brisbane.
The weather was atrocious, with heavy rain most days. However, in spite of this we were able to spend Christmas Day on the Gold Coast with friends and family. Christmas Day was spend yakking and nibbling excellent food. We returned to Brisbane from the Gold Coast about 10pm, after an excellent day.
We were able to take a bus and also a train into Brisbane city twice and looked around the shops.
Because we did not have a laptop with us we went to Sunnybank Hills Library on the days it was open, and accessed our emails.
On January 2 we caught up with family in the Shailer Park/Wynnum area (which included family from New Zealand) who were over in Australia for the Christmas period, and went out for a meal.
During the time we were in Brisbane we looked after two dogs, and they were real characters.
We returned today (Thursday) and it was good to get back home. In spite of flooding and storms in the area over the Christmas/New Year period there was not flooding or storm damage in our village, for which we are grateful.
The trip home was rather rough as the Bruce Highway from Gympie north has been severely damaged by potholes. We also drove into a very heavy storm. The television news is stating that it will only be a matter of time before the potholes cause a fatality.
