Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Another year is rapidly drawing to a close and Christmas is only a few weeks away. We wish to extend our sincere best wishes to our family and friends for a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
You may notice a slight change to our postal address. Hazelmere Village is accessed from Ibis Boulevard. Within the Village are a number of private roads and over 100 homes. Our house number is 31 and the name of the street our house is on is Eucalyptus Avenue.
We have had a very busy year, and we also celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. We celebrated our anniversary with some family and friends and did a champagne sunset sail around the bay, followed by dinner at an upmarket restaurant.
On November 27 we celebrated our 26th year as permanent residents in Australia. Of course, we celebrated by having lunch at a tapas restaurant.
We have had continuing health issues this year, but thankfully we have had excellent doctors and specialists who have taken care of us. Our GP in Maryborough has been very caring and helpful, and we have been his patients for around 25 years!
Beryl has her diabetes well under control. Ron is still being treated very regularly for his immunodeficiency. He has an intramuscular injection of penicillin every 21 days and has an immunoglobulin infusion every 21 days at St Stephen's Hospital at Hervey Bay. The dosage of the infusion has been increased twice this year. He travels to Wesley Private Hospital in Brisbane a couple of times a year to be reviewed by his immunologist. He is also a patient with a hematologist who comes to Hervey Bay from Brisbane regularly. One specialist said that Ron feels unwell because he has had the immunodeficiency all his life (82+ years) and the damage to his body and organs has occurred over the years and the damage is irreparable.
Beryl has an active life! She plays outdoor bowls in the Village three times a week and indoor bowls one afternoon a week. Ron is less active physically, but is involved with the Hazelmere Village Homeowners' Committee, is a JP(Qualified) and is on a roster every second week for two hours at Stockland shopping centre. He sometimes helps out at the courthouse if a colleague needs someone to fill a vacant slot. He is also involved at a JP signing centre in the local public hospital.
Ron and Beryl have considerable involvement in the church. Beryl is one of the musicians and is rostered for a month at a time. Beryl is the church treasurer, assisted from time to time by Ron. Ron is one of the three elders. In our denomination elders hold the same position as pastors or ministers in other denominations. The elders are kept very busy in their pastoral role. Ron is ordained and credentialled and is an internationally affiliated member of New Covenant International Ministries, holding status as a life-time ordained minister.
We look forward to spending a few days around Christmas with family on the Gold Coast. We will travel by public transport from Hervey Bay to the Gold Coast. We do not travel on the highway any more.
We think that we will be just as busy in 2025. Our thanks to all family and friends who think and pray for us. We are very appreciative. We wish you a happy and healthy new year and hope 2025 will bring you joy, happiness and peace.
God bless you.
Love from Ron and Beryl
