A Dream Comes True

There are times when one has a dream to do something and eventually it comes to fruition. Such an occurrence is happening for Beryl and myself. We have always wanted to travel on The Ghan, particularly travelling from Darwin to Alice Springs. Further information on the Ghan can be found on the website http://www.greatsouthernrail.com.au

So on Sunday, July 3 we will be travelling on the courtesy coach and the tilt train from Hervey Bay to Roma Street station, Brisbane and staying overnight at the Soho Hotel, Spring Hill, Brisbane.

On Monday, we travel from Brisbane domestic airport by Jetstar to Darwin and stay at the five star resort, SkyCity Resort. This is a five-star hotel. During our time in Darwin we will do sightseeing tours and sunset tours and barbecue.

On Wednesday, 6 July, we travel from Darwin to Alice Springs, stopping for a few hours at Katherine to do whistlestop tours. We are hoping to do a helicopter ride over the Katherine Gorges etc.

We expect to arrive in Alice Springs mid-morning Thursday 7th, and will stay that night at Crowne Plaza Hotel. The next day, Friday July 8, we will travel by coach to Uluru and see a number of tourist spots on the way. We are looking forward to seeing Ayers Rock and having a sunset barbecue.

On Saturday, 9th July, we return to Alice Springs and stay at the Crowne Plaza hotel again. Late the next morning, Sunday, we depart Alice Springs airport and return to Brisbane on a Qantas domestic flight.

We stay the night again at the Soho hotel, Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill and return on the 11am tilt train to Maryborough, and then the courtesy coach to Hervey Bay, arriving in Hervey Bay around 3pm.
