I have added the blog on Common Variable Immune Deficiency disease because I have been suffering from this disease for a long period of time, although it has only been diagnosed in the past three years approximately.
As well as suffering from this disease I have a granulomatous variant of this disease, where immune tissue lodged subcutaneously in various parts of my body, but mostly on the arms and legs. Some of these have been cut out by my GP. I receive an infusion of human gammagobulin every 28 days at the oncology day clinic at the Hervey Bay Public Hospital, as well as a IM penicillin shot in the buttock. This penicillin shot is to reduced the amount of lung infection I experience, particularly pneumococcus. I understand that CVID is inherited, but I do not know whom I inherited from, although I have advised my children to seek medical help if they or their children have continual lung, sinus and throat infections.
