Greetings to all, and best wishes for a happy Christmas and New Year.
The year 2010 has been a busy year for us both, and we seemed to spend most of our time involved with activities and appointments outside our Over-50s resort here in Hervey Bay.
In January we welcomed a great grandson, Iziah, born to Jesse and Hayleigh. He is a real cutie. They live in Palmerston North, New Zealand and they keep us up-to-date with his progress by sending current photos on facebook.
We look forward to welcoming our first great granddaughter, due to be born to Bridie in Tamworth, NSW, toward the end of December.
In May we celebrated Beryl’s 70th birthday we were grateful our daughter Heather and her husband David, who hosted this event at their home in Brisbane. It was wonderful to have family present from New Zealand and also the United States. It was our great pleasure to meet two of our granddaughters for the first time: Joharah and Amirah, daughters of Ian and Monica. The eldest daughter, Jamilah had visited us last in 1998, and she has recently turned 16 years of age.
They live in Philadelphia. After being in Australia for Beryl’s birthday they then paid a surprise visit to New Zealand, where they caught up with other members of the family and friends.
In the midst of this was the regular visit every 28 days to the Hervey Bay hospital chemotherapy unit for intravenous immunoglobulin infusions; bimonthly visits to the clinical immunologist at Wesley Hospital, Brisbane and a physician in Hervey Bay; and also Beryl’s 4-6 weekly visit to her GP to be reviewed for her diabetics. Fortunately this is under control and being kept stable by diet and medication.
We continue to enjoy our lifestyle in the village, and we are involved in village activities. Beryl is busy as chairperson of the Social Club and we are involved in outdoor bowls, indoor bowls and other Village social activities.
Ron is busy with JP duties in the community and the Hervey Bay courthouse. We have a fair level of involvement in our church.
We will be spending Christmas and New Year in Brisbane this year, and we hope that we will have opportunity to catch up with family and friends. We return home early January, 2011 in time for medical appointments, and Ron’s monthly infusion and penicillin injection at Hervey Bay hospital.
We trust you have a blessed Christmas and a happy new year.
Ron and Beryl
